Feeling Crafty as Directed by My Sisters

I am not an artist nor have I ever taken any art classes. I have never claimed to be an artist nor would I ever. But somehow my sisters have not received that memo. They keep coming to me with crafting projects, the latest project being to get my sister's new classroom together. Honestly, I cannot even tell the difference between acrylic verses latex paint. So naturally when my sister gave me the "gold" paint she wanted me to use, I didn't question it. It wasn't until I was past the point of return when I realized that the paint she had handed me was definitely more copper than gold.  Panic set in. I quickly grabbed more paint to mix with the copper I had already painted on. It looked better without my concoction. Frantically I grabbed the paper-towels to try and blot the paint off.
To my surprise the blotted paint didn't look half bad. Thankfully I have wonderful big sisters who gladly accepted my painting with a great "thank you." What a blessing it is to have a big sister that you know when she says, "I love it" she really means "I love you."

Party Like Rockstars

It's that time of year again, the birthday season has officially commenced. Since all of my nieces and nephews birthdays are somewhat close together, summer time for my family gets crazy busy. I cannot believe its been exactly four years ago when I first became an aunt. It all goes by so fast. My littlest besties and I had a blast this past week partying like rockstars. We did it all from ice cream for breakfast, special donuts, painting signs, dinner at Benihana, and many more adventures in the Virgin Islands. Happy Birthday Whitney and Abigail I love y'all very much!

Hot Dog, Hot Dog, Hot Diggity Dog

My littlest bestie and I had a blast celebrating National Hot Dog Day! Teaching Abigail how to grill a hot dog was the highlight of my night. Thankfully everything went well and we had some delicious hot dogs for dinner.

Making Lemonade Out of Life's Lemons

“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” -  John C. Maxwell

I am so excited to begin this new journey in my life.  Blogging was not where I would have seen myself a year or even a week ago; however, it just seems right in my life now. Boy how life does not turn out the way you expect but I have learned to laugh at my past, particularly my mistakes. Honestly, I thought I would be some big-shot environmentalist by now with a big girl job and living on my own. Instead I have been blessed to have the opportunity to be a full time aunt, sister, daughter, and friend. Spending time with my family, especially my nieces and nephews, has been the highlight of my year! They are so smart, goofy, and fun; they remind me to take the time out to smell the roses every single day. And even though I am no Rachael Carson or Julia Hill today, I have loved every minute I get to spend with my littlest besties. I wanted to start this blog to encourage others to enjoy life wherever  it may take you.
